The exhibition illuminates smoke as an everyday phenomenon, a cultural-historical motif and a symbol for a reality in constant change – fleeting, contradictory and yet with a lasting impact.

The Center for Art, formerly a tobacco processing factory, embodies the economic, social, and cultural aspects of smoking in its history. The transformation of the site from a place of industrial production to a space for cultural reflection opens up new levels of meaning: tobacco and smoke are transformed from a commodity and everyday practice into the subject of artistic exploration.

The exhibition explores the tension between past and present, between material industrial history and immaterial perception. Smoke appears as a trace and legacy, but also as a projection surface for imaginations and new narratives. It alludes to processes of disappearance and reappearance, creating images and dissolving them again in the next moment.
