The exhibition focuses on Frankfurt's apple wine culture—as a social space, a culture of gathering, and an urban tradition with its own symbols, forms, and rituals. The artists take up familiar elements: Bembel (traditional stoneware jugs) and Geripptes (ribbed glasses), apple wine and Handkäs (a type of cheese), ornamentation and diamond shapes. These serve as starting points for their artistic exploration. The exhibition features paintings, drawings, etchings, objects, and installations.

Malum = Apple
Veritas = Truth

The title Malum. Veritas. connects the apple as a fruit and cultural symbol with the idea of a truth that emerges in intoxication. Echoing "In vino veritas," this concept is applied to cider: a beverage that combines enjoyment, disinhibition, conversation, and social interaction.

The apple appears not only as the origin of the drink, but also as an ambivalent symbol between temptation, misstep and insight.
